Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is adamant that Arsenal have not sealed the Premier League title. He believes it is too early to win it, but added that a side can lose if they fall too far behind.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Liverpool clash, Guardiola said it will be impossible to catch Mikel Arteta's side if they continue to defend well and do not concede goals. The Manchester City manager admitted that the Gunners are inching closer to the title but believes they will drop points in the season. He said (via ESPN):
"If they continue in that way and don't concede goals, it will be almost impossible, but you always expect you will be better and they will drop points. It is exceptional what they are doing for two or three seasons. It looks like every time it is closer and closer, but we are in early November and you cannot win the title. You can lose it, but you cannot win it."Liverpool manager Arne Slot also spoke about the title race, saying that it was not his main focus. He wants to get his side back to winning ways and added that they need to be consistent before worrying about other sides' results. He said (via Liverpool.com):
"I only focus on ourselves and our main focus is on consistency at the moment. We have lost a few games, much more than we usually do and now we have won two so our focus is on getting consistent and improving and getting players fit and then we will see where that will lead to. But at this moment in time definitely not the only focus we have is the league table."Arsenal are on top of the table with 25 points, with Manchester City second with 19. Liverpool are third in the table, joint with Sunderland and Bournemouth at 18 points.
Manchester City and Liverpool can challenge Arsenal, says Joe Cole
Chelsea legend Joe Cole believes Arsenal can run away with the Premier League title, but has backed Liverpool and Manchester City to get back in the race. He hepaed praise on the Gunners for their defensive performances and told Paddy Power (via Metro):
"I believe Arsenal will run away with the league. Liverpool will come back into the race, and I think Manchester City will come too, but I don't think I've seen a team as strong defensively since probably our Chelsea team in the mid-noughties. I can really only be envious looking at Arsenal. It's in their hands now, they're ten furlongs ahead!"Manchester City and Liverpool face off this week, while The Gunners take on Sunderland.
