There are coaching-change rumors on the rise associated with teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and Calgary Flames. NHL insider David Pagnotta spoke on Thursday, clarifying that none of the teams is close to replacing their coach.

Speaking on the Daily Faceoff Rundown, Pagnotta explained that general managers still support their coaching staffs. He said fans may be reacting to poor results, not real plans.

Pagnotta first talked about the Maple Leafs and said they are not considering a move right now. Brad Treliving continues to support Craig Berube, and Berube has two years left on his contract. He believes Toronto will only act if the team collapses.

"First of all, in Toronto, you know, Treliving this last season... he said he has full confidence in his coach and the staff," Pagnotta said. "I mean, if they lose 15 in a row, then I think you have to reevaluate. But as it currently stands, there's no coaching change imminent in Toronto. They're not thinking about it."

The Maple Leafs sit at 9-9-3, and Injuries have affected their lineup. John Tavares and William Nylander lead the offense, but the team needs better structure to move up the standings. The Leafs want more consistency before making big decisions.

Pagnotta also talked about the Oilers and Flames. He said both teams recently signed their coaches to new deals. Edmonton extended Kris Knoblauch for three years, and Calgary extended Ryan Huska for two years. Pagnotta said teams do not fire coaches right after signing them.

“I know a lot of people in Alberta are going nuts as well for something, but... You’re probably not signing these guys and then making a coaching change two months later," Pagnotta said. "I get it that everyone’s going nuts about this, losing their minds, but maybe it’s the roster construction that’s not up to snuff for some of these teams."

The Oilers hold a 9-9-5 record this season, and the Flames, valued at $1.82 billion per Sportico, have struggled the most at 6-13-3.

Pagnotta talked about depth among the Maple Leafs, Oilers, and Flames

David Pagnotta said the main issue for the Maple Leafs, Oilers, and Flames may be roster depth. He said coaching is not the main problem right now.

"Maybe the realism is Toronto’s not deep enough, Edmonton’s not deep enough right now," Pagnotta said. "The Flames aren’t that good right now. So you have to take all of that into consideration… So no, I don’t expect a coaching change in Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary anytime soon.”

Toronto's issues are not new, considering their offensive players choke under pressure. So, that's not Berube's fault. Edmonton has made it to two stright Stnaley Cup finals under Knoblauch, so they will likely stay patient. Meanwhile, the Calgary roster needs improvement, more than a coaching change. Huska helped the team secure 41 wins last season, barely missing the playoffs.

So, Pagnotta believes all three teams need more balanced lineups.
