2025 BWF Australian Open Finals: Lakshya Sen vs Yushi Tanaka - preview, head-to-head record and where to watch

Lakshya Sen has stormed into the finals of the 2025 Australian Open. This marks the Indian’s second final of the year and he will now take on Japan's Yushi Tanaka as he searches for his first title of the season.

Sen has enjoyed a solid campaign in Sydney so far. The 24-year-old began his week with an easy win over Su Li Yang. While he was pushed to three games in his round of 16 encounter against Chi Yu Jen, he disposed of Ayush Shetty in the quarterfinals without dropping a game.

In his semifinals match, Sen battled long-time rival Chou Tien Chen. The World Bank bronze-medalist had a slow start to his game but staged an incredible comeback to oust the second seed 17-21, 24-22, 21-16.

On the other end, Yushi Tanaka has enjoyed a blockbuster run at the Australian Open. The World No.26 began his time at the Super 500 with a straight games win over first seed and World No.4 Jonatan Christie. He then disposed of Sholeh Aidil and Rasmus Gemke in a similar fashion, before defeating fifth seed Lin Chun-Yi 21-18, 21-15 in the semifinals.

Sen and Tanaka's men's singles finals is scheduled to be the third match on Court 1 at the Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday, November 23, and the battle is expected to take place at 2:40 PM local time, i.e 9:10 am IST.
