New York Giants coach Brian Daboll has come under increasing pressure amid the team's struggles this season. The Giants are currently last in the NFC East with a 2-7 record.

Although Daboll is still in his job with the Giants, WFAN's radio host Shaun Morash has said that the New York hierarchy had decided to fire the coach after its 33-32 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 7, before changing its mind.

“I’ve done some digging around and I’ve now gotten this from multiple people I trust, which is why I’m going to come here with it," Morash said on the "Talkin' Giants" podcast on Friday. "The Giants were firing Brian Daboll off the plane after the collapse in Denver. He was fired. Ownership got together, and cooler heads prevailed. They decided not to fire Brian Daboll off the plane in Denver.

"In the immediacy of that collapse, the decision to throw on third-and-5, like (co-host) Tiki (Barber) had crushed after that game, apparently that was enough from people of importance with the Giants that he was fired off the plane in Denver and cooler heads have prevailed, which has now led to stories about the split ticket. Brian Daboll is as good as gone and was basically gone two weeks ago if not for somebody stepping up within ownership and calming that down."

Morash also said that Giants general manager Joe Schoen didn’t have the power to make the call to fire Daboll in that moment.

Daboll is in his fourth season with the Giants. He led the team to the playoffs in his first year, when New York lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the divisional round.

However, the Giants had a 6-11 record in 2023 and a dismal 3-14 record last season.
