In March 2021, the two-time Pro Bowler was traded to the Los Angeles Rams for Jared Goff and a 2021 third-rounder, along with two first-rounders in 2022 and 2023. During his debut campaign with the team, Stafford helped them compete in Super Bowl LVI, where they defeated the Cincinnati Bengals to lift the Lombardi Trophy.

In 2022, he agreed to a four-year extension worth $160 million with the Rams. Stafford suffered a back injury during the offseason. Given his age, fans started to worry about the decline in his performance on the field after he did not suit up for the preseason games.

However, the veteran quarterback has been impressive on the field, recording 2,147 yards and 21 TDs passing. Stafford has helped his team to a 6-2 record heading into their upcoming game against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 10.

NFL analyst Pete Prisco gives Matthew Stafford his vote of confidence as 2025 season's MVP

On Monday's episode of "NFL on CBS", Pete Prisco highlighted how Stafford could win the MVP honors this season. He also heaped praise on his performance on the field and the importance of his role on the Rams offense.

"I think right now Matthew Stafford might be the MVP," Prisco said. "And I didn't think that two weeks ago. And in two successive games he's lit it up. When you light it up like that, all of a sudden you're back into it. "He's leading the NFL in touchdown passses with 21. He's on fire and he's playing on such a high level. ... This guy, when he's in rhythm, nobody throws a better pass than Matthew Stafford. ... I think right now, if you ask me who the MVP is, (it's) Matthew Stafford."

The Rams vs 49ers showdown is scheduled to take place on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET. Can Stafford help his team improve on their three-game winning streak in Week 10?
