Dan Lanning reaffirms commitment to Oregon, blasts talk of coaching rumors

Oregon Ducks coach Dan Lanning made it clear Saturday that he wants no part of the "doom and gloom" coaching carousel. He firmly shut down speculation about his future his team pushes toward the postseason.

Lanning is the architect of Oregon's recent success and has the Ducks as a national title contender. Since arriving in 2022, nothing has changed but the walls around the program. He addressed the topic during an appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay Saturday ahead of the Ducks’ matchup with USC.

When host Pat McAfee asked why his name hasn’t surfaced for any of the high-profile vacancies, including the SEC, Lanning didn’t hesitate.

“Because the grass is damn green, Pat. I love this place,” Lanning said. “You’ve got to be able to say, ‘Hey, appreciate what you have.’ And I appreciate what I have here so much. This will be my spot. This is where I’m at forever.”

Lanning owns a 44-7 record at Oregon, including a No. 3 finish last year and a 9-1 mark entering the weekend. Despite his success, recent openings at LSU, Penn State and Florida have not included his name. Mainly due to his own reasons. With coaches such as Lane Kiffin, Eli Drinkwitz, Jon Sumrall and Kenny Dillingham drawing more attention, Lanning is good where he's at in Eugene.

Oregon remains firmly in the College Football Playoff race, averaging 39.0 points per game while allowing just 13.7. Both top-10 national figures. The Ducks maintain focus as they enter the stretch run with Lanning guiding the ship.
