AEW star Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) has been exploring new things outside of pro wrestling. In the past year, he has been involved in multiple projects. His performance in Iron Claw and Happy Gilmore 2 was well-received by fans. Lately, he has been busy with film shooting as he is working on multiple projects with others also interested in signing him. He has been on a hiatus from television since September.

The former AEW World Champion faced a major setback before he went on a hiatus. At Forbidden Door, he failed to win the World Title against 'Hangman' Adam Page. Also, he couldn't defeat his arch-nemesis Mark Briscoe in a Tables N Thumbtacks contest. He has been on a hiatus since then and vowed to come back stronger.

As per Fightful Select, The Salt of the Earth is set to be free from the shooting of Violent Night 2 soon. However, his AEW return hasn't been 'scheduled' yet.

“MJF is taking well to Hollywood… and Winnipeg. We’re told that the filming of the movie is set to wrap relatively soon, though we’ve not yet heard when MJF is scheduled to return to AEW. AEW sources indicated that MJF has the acting bug, and has spoken about how much he’s enjoyed filming," the report stated. [H/T - Ringside News]

Tony Khan talked highly of MJF

Maxwell Jacob Friedman was involved in a high-caliber match ahead of his contest with Mark Briscoe at All Out. He defended his World Light Heavyweight Title against Mistico in CMLL but faced defeat in another high-caliber bout in Mexico.

While speaking on the Sportster, Tony Khan said that he had massive respect for Friedman's professionalism, especially after putting on two huge matches within 24 hours, with a lot of traveling involved in between.

"I have a lot of respect for what he did to have two amazing matches in two different countries. Incredibly, to go from Mexico, be an arena in in Mexico City, and then to go to Toronto, and in less than 24 hours to have two amazing matches, wrestling Místico for the CMLL World Title, and then wrestling Mark Briscoe in this Tables N' Tacks match at AEW All Out," Khan said.

It remains to be seen when The Salt of the Earth returns to the Jacksonville-based promotion.
