Milwaukee Bucks vs Indiana Pacers preview
The Bucks have been one of the NBA’s early-season surprises, opening with a 4-2 record and impressive wins over veteran-heavy teams like the New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors before falling to the Sacramento Kings in their most recent outing.
Even with that loss, Milwaukee has posted the league’s fourth-best offensive rating and seventh-best net rating, fueled by a league-best 52.5% field-goal percentage and third-ranked 40.6% team 3-point shooting.
A huge part of the Bucks’ success has been Giannis Antetokounmpo, who’s averaging 34.2 points, 13.4 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game. But stepping up as his “Robin” has been Ryan Rollins, who has started five of Milwaukee’s six games and is averaging 18.2 ppg, 5.5 apg and 2.3 steals per game — all career highs.
The Pacers, meanwhile, have struggled mightily after losing Tyrese Haliburton to an Achilles tear in Game 7 of last season’s NBA Finals. Injuries have continued to pile up, with Andrew Nembhard, Benedict Mathurin, Obi Toppin and T.J. McConnell all ruled out for this game.
Still, Indiana is coming off its first win of the season after six straight losses, a 114-109 upset over the Warriors led by Pascal Siakam, Aaron Nesmith and Quenton Jackson, who combined for 83 points.
After boasting one of the NBA’s most explosive offenses last year, the Pacers now sit near the bottom of the league in scoring and will need major contributions from their bench to keep pace with Milwaukee.
