Tottenham Hotspur are going through a tough phase as they recently relieved former manager Ange Postecoglou courtesy of finishing 17th in the Premier League last season. However, the highlight of the season for the Lilywhites was winning the Europa League.
Despite clinching a trophy after 17 long years, Tottenham decided to sack the Australian and are now reportedly close to appointing Brentford's Thomas Frank as their new manager.
It is understood that Frank has started his work in the background and the Danish tactician has already demanded his first signing for the North London outfit. As per Mirror, Frank has requested Tottenham to bring Bryan Mbuemo to North London.
The Brentford forward, who had a sensational Premier League 2024/25 campaign under Frank is all set to move out this summer with Manchester United strongly linked with the Cameroonian versatile forward.
While United are reportedly leading the race for the 25-year-old, clubs like Arsenal, Newcastle and now Tottenham are also in the race. So, if Frank moves to Tottenham, he will definitely have a say in this deal and may sway Mbuemo's decision and turn him to North London.
In the last two days, Manchester United have been strongly linked with the forward, but Frank believes that if Tottenham steps up their interest, they can still get the 25-year-old as Brentford are yet to agree terms with United over the player.
Where could Mbuemo land this summer?
Mbuemo has been with Brentford for many years, and he has seen the highs and lows of the club. He saw them gain promotion to the Premier League in 2021 and since then has developed into one of the best players for the Bees.
— HotspurReports. (@hotspurreports) June 7, 2025However, the Premier League 2024/25 campaign was the best for him in terms of output as he scored 20 goals and provided seven assists. Only the likes of Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak scored more goals than the 25-year-old.
Mbeumo reportedly has an inclination towards Manchester United but the Frank's entry at Tottenham will surely increase their chances, also they have Champions League football for the next season which will surely help their cause. However, Brentford have slapped a £60 million asking fee for the Cameroon international.
Reports as per Sunday Mirror suggest that Tottenham are ready to offer around £130,000-a-week wager which is actually lower than Manchester United's reported wages in the region of £150,000-£200,000-a-week.
Overall, the Red Devils are still close to completing the deal and Frank and Tottenham need to work fast to get the deal over the line in time. They are already behind the clock but if they manage to snap the winger, it will be one of the biggest hijacks of the Premier League.
