How to watch the Ohio Division I, II, VI state high school softball championship games

Three title trophies will be awarded on Sunday to wrap up high school softball in the state of Ohio.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association’s softball championships in Division I, II and VI will take place starting Sunday morning in Akron at historic Firestone Stadium, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

First up, at 11 a.m. ET, is the Division VI championship game between New Madison Tri-Village and Sugarcreek Garaway.

New Madison Tri-Village (29-0) edged Dalton in Friday’s semifinal round, 1-0, as pitcher Elizabeth Poling pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out two. Sugarcreek Garaway (20-10) won its semifinal, 10-4, against Gibsonburg, scoring six runs in the sixth to break a 4-all tie. Kyleigh LaCroix hit a home run and a double while driving in five runs, and Krista Miller went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored.

At 1:30 p.m. ET is the Division II championship game pitting Painesville Riverside and Mount Vernon.

In Saturday’s semifinal, Painesville Riverside (26-4) edged Massillon Perry, 2-0, with both runs coming on a homer by winning pitcher Annaliese Davis, who allowed four hits and struck out eight. Mount Vernon, meanwhile, scored two runs in the top of the seventh to down Whitehouse Anthony Wayne, 5-4, in the other semifinal. Rylee Myers went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs while scoring another.

The final championship game is set for 4 p.m. ET on Sunday as Centerville faces Lebanon for the Division I title.

Centerville (18-13) posted an 8-4 win against Massillon Jackson in Saturday’s semifinal. Riley Bakan went 4-for-4, and winning pitcher Caitlyn Belcher had two hits and drove in five runs.

Lebanon (27-4) edged Lancaster Fairfield, 2-0, in the other Division I semifinal, scoring two runs in the top of the ninth. Kennedy Jauch and Sophia Sheidler had the RBIs, and Sheidler pitched a nine-inning shutout, striking out 10.
