The saga between the Miami Dolphins and Jalen Ramsey continues to unfold, with another development on Sunday that further signals Ramsey has mentally moved on from the organization—even though no trade has been finalized. Ramsey and the Dolphins reportedly agreed to part ways at the start of the offseason, a decision believed to stem from deteriorating relationships. Now, Ramsey will not be attending the team’s mandatory minicamp.
“Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Ramsey isn't planning to attend the Dolphins' mandatory minicamp this week as he and the team continue searching for a trade suitor,” Bleacher Report’s Andrew Peters wrote.
Several teams are interested in acquiring Ramsey for his veteran leadership, but his current contract remains a major obstacle—especially with the Dolphins unwilling to absorb any of the financial burden.
“The Dolphins appear unwilling to take on any of Jalen Ramsey’s guaranteed money to facilitate a trade. Teams are very interested in trading for Ramsey, but don’t want to take on his full contract. This is the current hold up,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported.
Looking ahead, Ramsey may soon make a significant decision about the future of his career, including a potential position change.
“The more people I talk to, the more I think Jalen Ramsey’s value now really is as a safety,” Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer wrote.

With Ramsey on the way out, the Dolphins will need a replacement—and there may be no better option than a two-time Super Bowl champion.
“The Dolphins should look no further than two-time Super Bowl champion and current Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Jaylen Watson as a potential replacement for Ramsey, according to Pro Football Network's Brandon Austin,” Yahoo Sports’ Griffin Goodwyn wrote.
Watson would bring youth and upside to Miami's secondary. He’s entering the prime of his career, comes at a much lower cost than Ramsey, and could make an immediate impact in a cornerback room that is full of question marks following Ramsey’s expected departure.
