Chad Ochocinco got emotional while discussing former NFL star Antonio Brown's arrest for alleged attempted murder in the Miami shooting. The event in question took place in May this year after a celebrity boxing game in Miami.

Speaking to podcaster and former NFL star Shannon Sharpe via Nightcap (dated November 7, 2025), Chad Ochocinco commented on Antonio Brown's arrest. He revealed he was hurt by the incident.

"I don't care. I just, oh sh*t, that sh*t hurt. I just never want to bother because he grown, you know. So it's, you know, I want to stay in my place, you know. And that should just make me sad to see somebody that special, to understand all of the obstacles and the sacrifices get where you at, and then it just to let it go like that when.... It's crazy," Ochocinco said.

On Thursday (November 6), Miami police spokesperson Mike Vega confirmed that Antonio Brown was arrested in Dubai due to an attempted murder charge in connection with a shooting in Miami on May 16, 2025. The NFL wide receiver was taken into custody by US Marshals and flown to New Jersey, as revealed by Vega.

According to his arrest warrant, Antonio Brown was accused of snatching a handgun from a security personnel after a celebrity boxing match in Miami and firing two shots at Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu. The NFL star was involved in a fistfight with Nantambu earlier. The latter also confirmed that one of the bullets grazed his neck.

On his stream via Nightcap, popular podcaster and former NFL star Shannon Sharpe weighed in on Antonio Brown's arrest over his alleged involvement in a shooting in Miami this year. Sharpe claimed he has had differences with Brown over the years, but his sympathies lie with the player.

"All I know is about what they [the police] said. I guess he had gotten to a fight with somebody. Was a celebrity boxing match. I guess he felt he was getting jumped, and he took the security guards. I guess, from what it is, I guess he took the security guards firearm. I don't know. I don't know," Sharpe said of the alleged incident.

Following the shooting in Miami, police initially detained Antonio Brown after gunshots were fired. Videos were circulated on social media, which showed Brown fighting with people, while sounds of gunfire were also heard. However, the police released the former NFL star the next day. The NFL star also shared an explanation on social media the following day, claiming he was "not arrested" on that day and will take legal action against those who jumped on him. On June 11, a warrant was issued for Brown's arrest.

Speaking about his sympathy for Antonio Brown, Shannon Sharpe added:

"Me and AB have had our differences, but in a situation like this, I just have sympathy. I have empathy for him. We all make mistakes. We all go through things and uh, it's just tough. It's just tough to see somebody that was so talented, so immensely talented."

He continued:

"I just knew him on a surface level. Covered him for a number of years, and to see this happen, it's just tough. It's extremely tough."

Further, Shannon Sharpe also hoped Brown could have focused more on his career and stayed at Pittsburgh with Big Ben aka Ben Roethlisberger. For context, Antonio Brown spent 12 years in the NFL. For most of his career, he played for the Pittsburgh Steelers between 2010 and 2018.

He then joined the Oakland Raiders and the New England Patriots, and last represented the Tampa Bay Buccaneers until 2021. Sharpe also wondered "what kind of numbers" Brown could have put up with Ben Roethlisberger, who spent all of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Despite his impressive career numbers, Antonio Brown has been involved in legal trouble over the years. He has previously been accused of multiple instances of domestic violence, battery of a moving truck, and failure to pay child support.

If he is convicted of second-degree murder charges, Brown could face up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. Further details of the legal procedure are awaited.
