UAB Blazers offensive lineman Daniel Mincey has been arrested by the police for aggravated assault and attempted murder. The incident took place on Friday morning inside UAB's Football Operations Center.

According to reports, Daniel Mincey stabbed two of his teammates and injured them on Friday morning. The two players were quickly rushed to the hospital and did not face any life-threatening injuries. This took place before the Blazers game against the South Florida Bulls on Saturday.

According to the records by the Jefferson County Jail, Daniel Mincey was arrested on Saturday for his involvement in this incident. The offensive lineman began his collegiate journey with the Kentucky Wildcats in 2024.

After redshirting his freshman campaign, Mincey transferred to join UAB this season. He has yet to play a game for the team. They went ahead with Saturday's game against the South Florida Bulls despite the incident.

The game ended with the Blazers suffering a disappointing 48-18 loss at home. Quarterback Jalen Kina completed 20 of 36 passes for 230 yards and no touchdowns with three interceptions. On the other hand, USF quarterback Byrum Brown completed 19 of 25 passes for 353 yards and five total touchdowns

Following Saturday's loss, the Blazers are now 3-8 (1-6 AAC) with a four-game losing streak.


UAB releases statement on the condition of the two players involved in the stabbing incident

The program released a statement about the condition of the two players who were hospitalized. According to them, they were out of danger and are giving their full support in the ongoing investigation.

"We're grateful to report that two players injured in an incident this morning at the Football Operations Building are in stable condition. Our thoughts are with them and their families as they recover. (Mincey) remains in custody and an investigation is taking place. "The team elected to play today's game. UAB's top priority remains the safety and well-being of all our students. Given patient privacy and the ongoing investigation, we have no further comment at this time."

The Blazers are next scheduled to face the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes (4-7, 1-6 AAC) in their final regular-season game. This year also marks coach Trent Dilfer's third campaign with the program.
