Sam-A says he would be grateful to receive another world title shot in twilight of his career: “It would be something great”

Former two-sport, two-division ONE world champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao of Thailand is on top of the world after a scintillating performance against young phenom Jaosuayai at ONE Friday Fights 137 last weekend.

Sam-A turned in a vintage showing at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium last Saturday, December 6, sending Jaosuayai to the canvas two times in the second round en route to a unanimous decision win.

Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, Sam-A said he was hoping that his performance was enough to earn him another crack at the ONE world title.

The Thai legend said:

“I want to get a title shot because at this age, if I could get one shot at the title, it would be something great, no matter who the champion is.”

Needless to say, Sam-A’s reputation certainly precedes him. The Thai icon is one of the most accomplished and decorated strikers in Muay Thai and kickboxing.

What’s next for Sam-A Gaiyanghadao?

Sam-A Gaiyanghadao is the former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion, the former ONE strawweight kickboxing and Muay Thai world champion, and a living legend.

His laundry list of accomplishments across the striking arts is unparalleled. A winner of four of his last five fights, if there’s anyone who deserves another shot at ONE gold, it’s him.

At strawweight, he could take on Muay Thai titleholder Prajanchai PK Saenchai one more time in what would be an absolute spectacle. On the kickboxing front, a potential showdown with Italian-Canadian star Jonathan Di Bella awaits.

Another option is for Sam-A to return to flyweight, where he could face Superlek Kiatmoo9 in a showdown for the kickboxing gold, or compete against his brother-in-arms, Nong-O Hama, for the vacant flyweight world title.

Any fight for Sam-A would be absolutely bonkers.
