Pluribus season 2 has been confirmed, but it's not expected to arrive anytime soon. Apple had confirmed that Vince Gilligan’s sci-fi series would be produced for two seasons before the audience got an opportunity to see how its harrowing first season, which premiered in November 2025, played out.
Season 1 captured audiences’ attention with its thought-provoking themes of free will, personal identity, and imposed unity, particularly through Rhea Seehorn’s acclaimed acting as Carol Sturka. While viewers eagerly await the release of Pluribus season 2, the show's completion will take longer, as the creative process is still underway.
Filming is reportedly not expected to begin until 2026, according to Forbes.
Pluribus season 2: What we know so far

In an interview with Radio Times, published on November 16, 2025, Creator Vince Gilligan said he had begun work on the production of the second season. However, he indicated that he still has not completed writing Pluribus season 2 and needs to take care in determining the direction he wants to take it in.
"But then we never have, we never had them for Breaking Bad, for Better Call Saul, and that's probably the better way to go. I have some ideas. We have some ideas about how the show should wind up, but I think it's, it always behooves us to be ready to jettison a good idea for a better idea, so we're ready and willing to do that," he added. In another interview with Variety, Gilligan discussed how he created the series out of a desire to make a project that was at least as good as the best of Rhea Seehorn's talents as an actress. He also stated that he envisioned the series as a way to showcase her versatility as an actress. At the same time, he wanted to give a wider audience the opportunity to see the full extent of her acting ability.
Due to the high production values of the show and the extensive use of computer-generated imagery, the production timeline of Pluribus season 2 will be extensive. It is estimated to begin filming in the Spring of 2026 and will likely be released sometime in late 2027 to early 2028, as per Forbes.
Everything to know before Pluribus season 2 arrives
SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations Presents Apple TV's "Pluribus" (Image via Getty)Pluribus season 1 follows Carol Sturka, a romance novelist who inexplicably remains immune to a strange alien-induced phenomenon called the Joining, which has assimilated most of humanity into a hive mind known as the Others. In many ways, Carol's determination and refusal to accept societal norms remain the emotional center of the entire series.
In season 1's conclusion, La Chica o El Mundo, viewers saw how Carol had changed. Although she finally meets a fellow immune survivor, Manousos Oviedo, her relationship with him brings issues of difference between them into conflict.
Carol eventually develops a relationship with Zosia from The Others. However, her relationship with Zosia does not go well as her group wants to use Carol's frozen eggs to "assimilate" her body on their own terms.
The season ends with Carol and Zosia having returned to Albuquerque, with Carol now in possession of a large, mysterious container that she claims is an "atom bomb," which could have serious implications for the show's future.
The cliffhanger at the end of the finale conveys two things. Firstly, Carol is determined to continue her struggle against The Joining. Secondly, Carol and her allies will do whatever it takes to achieve their goal. The unresolved conflict, moral ambiguity, and anticipation of further developments in the relationship between Carol and Zosia provide opportunities for exploring new areas within the world of Pluribus.
Pluribus season 1 is available to stream on Apple TV+. Stay tuned for more updates on Pluribus season 2 and other shows.
