Saints' Taysom Hill isn't a Hall of Famer but wouldn't be eligible even if he was

As Taysom Hill is in the twilight of his career, there are actually some New Orleans Saints fans out there wondering if he's a Hall of Famer.

That was revealed by Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com, who said he gets asked about the do-it-all playmaker's worthiness.

Duncan addressed Hill's Hall of Fame candidacy down the line on Monday and noted that the 35-year-old actually wouldn't be eligible for the honor because he has never garnered a Pro Bowl or All-Pro nod during his career.

Some folks have asked me about Taysom Hill's Hall of Fame worthiness. Unless something changes, he will not be eligible for candidacy. To be considered for the HOF, a player must have at least "one recognized postseason honor" like Pro Bowl or All-Pro on his career resume.

This is the same issue Saints great Marques Colston has.

Granted, we can't say for sure that he would have been voted into the Hall of Fame if eligible, but Colston won't even get the chance because of his lack of a Pro Bowl or All-Pro selection.

Considering he was an undrafted player, Hill has put together one heck of a career and is truly a unique talent with his ability to play different positions, including tight end, wide receiver, quarterback and running back.

We saw him do all that against the New York Jets in Week 16, with Hill throwing for a touchdown, tallying 12 carries for 42 yards and four catches for 36 yards.

Unfortunately, he just hasn't had the level of production to be voted into the Hall of Fame.

Hill has, however, cemented himself as a franchise great with everything he has done for the team and should one day be inducted into the Saints' Hall of Fame.
