A former WWE Superstar who was released by the company this year has now won a world title.

Former NXT Women's Champion, Shayna Baszler, was released in May 2025, after spending eight years with the promotion. However, she later returned to the promotion in a backstage role for NXT. Now, she has won the Boca Raton Championship Wrestling Women's World Championship, defeating Lacey Lane at an event in Florida on November 2.

The Queen of Spades returned to the independent scene in October after her release from WWE and subsequent non-compete clause. Now, she has won a world title in her second match outside the Stamford-based promotion.

BRCW is an independent promotion that livestreams its events on YouTube. The promotion also features Matt Riddle, who is one-half of the promotion's tag team champions alongside Stallion Rogers.

Former champion spoke about one of her biggest regrets after leaving WWE

Former NXT Women's Champion Shayna Baszler spoke about one of her biggest regrets in WWE after leaving the promotion while speaking on the Ariel Helwani Show.

"Everyone talks about like Sasha [Banks] and Bayley doing all three brands and carrying the COVID era, but [Nia and me] were on all three shows carrying that tag division. We were on every show. And I really wish, if there is like one huge regret, I really wish it was that would have been in front of fans or we could have gone back to that and see how they would have reacted," Baszler said.

Baszler won the Women's Tag Team Championship twice with Nia Jax, and once with Ronda Rousey. Her last match in the promotion was a Women's Tag Team Championship number one contender's gauntlet match, in which she teamed up with Zoey Stark in a losing effort.

It remains to be seen how things fare for Stark now that she is back on the independent circuit.
