Raisel Iglesias's time as a closer could be done, per ESPN insider

Raisel Iglesias has been primarily used as a closer during his time in the big leagues. This past season, he executed 29 saves with the Atlanta Braves, which ranked him ninth, tied with Kenley Jansen.

However, his time with the Braves could be coming to an end as he heads to the open market. He will be one of a handful of closers looking for a new home in 2026.

He may not get the attention he is looking for with guys like Edwin Diaz, Robert Suarez, Devin Williams, and Ryan Helsely available.

Raisel Iglesias may even see himself move away from a closing role next season. ESPN's Kiley McDaniel believes he could catch on with a contending team and be used as their setup man.

"His extensive ninth-inning experience is a nice bonus, and he likely won't demand a third year due to his age, so he makes a lot of sense as a setup man for a contending team."

One team that comes to mind here is the San Francisco Giants. They will go into the offseason looking to secure an arm to help bolster their bullpen.

Another team that could look to secure Iglesias's talents could be the San Diego Padres. They currently have Mason Miller closing out games, but have teased moving him to the starting rotation. Whether they do that or not, Iglesias could fit in here, either closing out games in place of Miller or setting him up for the ninth inning.
