Grinding Gear Games has revealed the first teaser for Druid in Path of Exile 2’s next major update. While much about the upcoming character class remains a mystery, we did get to see him transform. However, instead of a Bear, we saw a Werewolf, meaning there’s a lot more build potential compared to what GGG previously showcased in the demo.

The new expansion is named 'The Last of the Druids', suggesting a complete focus on exploring the story behind the shapeshifters. Here's everything we know about the Druid in Path of Exile 2 from the latest teaser and the demo showcased during Gamescom 2023.

The Last of the Druids update will launch on December 12, 2025, and as soon as patch 0.4 is live, you'll be able to play the new character. Before that, GGG will hold a live showcase for the expansion on December 4 and reveal more about the update.

Many expected Druid to join the playable roster along with patch 0.3, but it didn't happen. As per GGG, there was still some work left, which is why the character got delayed until the next major update. With a Werewolf in the teaser, the devs have likely cooked a lot more.

Druid brings an entirely different gameplay style. Since the character is mainly INT and STR-based, you can build around both spells and melee. While in human form, he is a spellcaster, utilizing different elements to take down enemies. There’s no doubt the update will bring a lot more Skills, but the already existing ones can also have unique synergy with

At the same time, transforming into a Bear or a Werewolf will also change the fighting style to melee. All of the attacks from the Gamescom demo, while transformed, were melee-based and looked very similar to a slam-based Warrior. Here’s what we know based on the older showcase. Note that the names may also be placeholders.

Here are all the known Skills for the human form:

SkillWhat it does
Lightning StormCast a spell to bring down lightning bolts upon enemies to deal damage and apply Shock. The spell lingers for a duration, so you can swap to other abilities to add more DPS.
Volcano Summon a small volcano that will shoot random projectiles around it to deal damage. It’s similar to the one created by Rattlecage, the boss for the first floor of Trial of the Sekhemas. Enemies hit by the projectiles can also get ignited and take damage over time.
Tornado Tornado doesn’t deal much damage, but that’s not what it’s supposed to do. The primary function of this Skill is crowd control. Casting it will summon a tornado that pulls all enemies into the AoE. At this point, you’ll want to use other skills, preferably AoE, to take them out.
Summoned Wolves Apart from shapeshifting, the Druid can also summon wolves. Casting the skill will spawn a temporary (presumably) minion who’ll take enemy aggro and also apply a debuff on them.

Here are all the known Skills for the Bear form:

SkillWhat it does
Bear MaulUsing the skill will turn the Druid into a Bear and maul enemies. Any enemy hit by the attack will grant Rage that you can consume to empower other attacks. Use a spell to change back into the human form.
Rampage Now that you are brimming with Rage, Rampage acts as an outlet to use the resource to increase the damage of your attack. The more you have, the longer you’ll be able to stomp across the field. Note that Rage starts to decay after a few seconds, so make sure to use it.
Furious Slam This Skill is a safety net if you get swarmed. Using Furious Slam will send out a shockwave in an AoE, briefly stunning all enemies around (except for the ones with stun immunity). It should give you long enough to get out of the kill zone and prepare your next attack.
Ferocious Roar Using Ferocious Roar will buff your next slam attack to cause an aftershock. Without proper damage numbers, it's hard to say how good the secondary attack will be, but if the entire duration of Rampage counts as a single slam attack, there’s potential for a great combo.

Is Druid a good League starter for Path of Exile 2 patch 0.4?

The Druid is the first INT and STR-based character in Path of Exile 2. As such, building for both melee and ranged will be a lot easier. Due to this, I’d say that the new character class will be a good league starter.

Another thing to note is that the Druid didn’t need any resources to transform. Simply using the related Skill allows you to change form, meaning less time spent on managing abilities and more on stomping enemies.
