Arsenal edged past Newcastle United in the Premier League to seal their Champions League qualification next season. The Gunners defeated the Magpies 1-0 courtesy of a stunning goal from Declan Rice.
It has been a bittersweet campaign for Mikel Arteta and his men. They started the campaign looking like one of the contenders to challenge for the Premier League, and later looked like a team that could do well in the Champions League.
But eventually, they ended another season without winning any silverware. Following the Newcastle win, Arteta delivered a passionate vow to end the club's trophy drought.
"We are unsatisfied and upset. But I think we are on the right trajectory," Arteta told the reporters.
"What I can promise is that I will do my very best [to win a trophy] and I will give my life, and get every drop of everybody here to squeeze it and get the best out of them."
Arsenal have not won a single trophy since their FA Cup triumph over Chelsea in 2020.

What did Arteta say about fan expectations?
The Spanish manager felt that the fans backed him throughout the campaign, but he understands their disappointment after not winning anything this season.
"That's what I feel but they want more, they have expectations. We need to believe we are going to do it together."
"We had a dream, it was to be here or in a week's time and bring the big trophies to you guys and we couldn't do it for many circumstances," he said.

Arteta wants to focus on following the dream of bringing big trophies to North London. He highlights the importance of chasing the dream and writing own history.
"We need to make sure that chasing a dream doesn't get blurry and make sure we chase the dream with positivity and enthusiasm for next season.
"We have to start creating our own history here in this stadium, and we started this season. There is much more to come and it won't be easy. These players have the talent.
"We need to rest and finish at Southampton and then go on holiday."
If the Gunners avoid defeat against already relegated Southampton next week, they will finish second for the third consecutive Premier League season.
It was a season of what ifs for the North Londoners as they failed to pose a proper threat to Liverpool in the Premier League title race.
They produced a sensational performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League, but then they crashed out of Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals. They also bowed out of the semifinals in the Carabao Cup.
Arsenal were also knocked out by Manchester United on penalties in the third round of FA Cup.
