Lionel Messi’s sister Maria Sol suffers serious injury from accident as wedding with Inter Miami coach postponed: Reports

Lionel Messi's sister Maria Sol has reportedly met with an accident, just days before her wedding. The 32-year-old is out of danger, but has suffered multiple fractures.

According to Argentinian TV journalist Angel de Brito, Maria was driving in Miami when she lost control of her vehicle and hit a wall. She has fractured her heel and wrist in the accident, as well as two fractures in her vertebrae.

The journalist has added that Messi's sister has been moved to Rosario, where he has begun recovery with her family. He spoke to the Argentine's mother following the accident and read out their text conversation on TV, which said:

"Messi’s sister is okay, she’s out of danger, but I was checking things with the family because she was due to get married in Rosario, Argentina, on January 3, and she’s going to have to suspend it. She suffered burns and burns are very difficult to treat, as well as displacement of vertebrae. She’s already started her rehabilitation in Rosario." Initial reports in Argentina suggested that Maria Sol was driving a pick-up truck when the accident happened. However, reports now suggest that Lionel Messi's sister was on a bike when she fell off and got injured.

Lionel Messi's sister Maria Sol has always managed to keep a low profile despite her brother's fame. She is a fashion designer and an entrepreneur who was due to marry her long-term boyfriend, Julian “Tuli” Arellano, on January 3rd, 2026, in Rosario, Argentina.

Maria Sol lived in Spain for a while while her brother played for Barcelona, and then moved to Argentina to focus on her projects. She also worked with her brother at The Messi Store, where she partnered with Virginia Hilfiger, the sister of designer Tommy Hilfiger.

Her fiancé, Julian “Tuli” Arellano, is part of Inter Miami's coaching staff and works with the U19 team. The wedding has now been postponed indefinitely following the accident to Lionel Messi's sister.

The Argentine superstar and his family were in Miami and were due to fly to Roasio, Argentina, for Christmas and preparation for the wedding.
