Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf’s suspension from the NFL has sparked much backlash, even leading Jalen Rose’s daughter, Mariah Rose, to question the decision. Metcalf was suspended for two games after getting into an altercation with a fan.
After Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions, clips of Metcalf went viral on social media. The video shows the wide receiver approaching a fan in the stands, pulling him closer to him before seemingly punching him.
Jalen Rose’s daughter, Mariah Rose, gave her thoughts on the situation in a video shared to her Instagram page, @hoopsforhotties.

She continued and defended Metcalf, suggesting that the fan, Ryan Kennedy, had it coming:
“I’m not the creator that’s going to come on here and say, ‘I don’t condone violence, blah blah blah,’ talk s*** get hit.”She went on and put the fan on blast, saying it's only fair since Metcalf is also being put on blast for his action:
“Allegedly, that man, identified as Ryan Kennedy … called DK the N word and said something about his mama. I have wanted to punch people for less, and I am not an NFL wide receiver.”Lastly, Rose questioned the NFL’s standards, citing Metcalf’s history with the fan:
“If it’s true that this fan was calling him an N word and talking about his mama, and DK reported this same fan to security a year ago and nothing was done, and now that he ran up on the fan, y’all want to get mad and suspend him for two games." "I don’t think that’s fair. The NFL needs to do a better job of protecting its players.”Mariah Rose is not alone, as many fans on social media have also expressed their disappointment with Metcalf's suspension.
DK Metcalf’s suspension could result in a $45 million loss for the NFL star
DK Metcalf was suspended for two games for what the NFL saw as conduct detrimental to the league. While this suspension will see him lose $555,000 in salary, things could get worse for the wide receiver.
A clause in his four-year, $132 million contract states that should he “fail to practice or play for the club for any reason,” his salary guarantees for the next two seasons could be voided, an amount close to $45 million.
It is being reported that DK Metcalf plans to appeal his suspension. Even if the NFL reduces his suspension to one game, his guarantees will still be void.
