The Kansas City Chiefs are relocating to a new stadium by the 2031 season, leaving their longtime home at Arrowhead Stadium. The new domed stadium will be built across the Kansas-Missouri state line.
The announcement was made on Monday after Kansas lawmakers agreed for the state to issue more than $2.4 billion, 60% of the $3 billion project, for the new stadium, a new training facility and retail and entertainment space.
Chiefs owner Clark Hunt shared the news with the fans of the franchise after his meeting with the Kansas lawmakers in the state Capitol.

Former Chiefs quarterback Chase Daniel shared the news on X, expressing his surprise at the announcement.
"Wow…this is really happening."Daniel, a Super Bowl winner with the New Orleans Saints in 2010, played for the Chiefs from 2013 to 2015.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly hails Chiefs' stadium relocation as "historic" move
According to reports, the Chiefs' new domed stadium will be built built near the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City and a retail district known as The Legends. Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly hailed it as the biggest announcement of her tenure.
"Today, we are announcing an agreement to bring our beloved Kansas City Chiefs right here to Kansas,” Kelly said. “For the rest of the nation, I say take heed. Kansas is not a flyover state. We are a touchdown state. “In my seven years as governor, I’ve had the privilege of making some really big announcements, but none bigger than this. It’s truly historic."The Chiefs are expected to move to the new stadium by leaving Arrowhead at the end of the 2030 season as their current lease in Jackson County, Mo., runs through January 2031.
