Hellenic Championship 2025 Day 2 predictions: Men's singles ft. Marcos Giron vs Pedro Martinez, Mackenzie McDonald vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry

Marcos Giron and Mackenzie McDonald will be in action on Day 2 of the Hellenic Championship 2025 in Athens. Novak Djokovic will also begin his campaign at the Telekom Center Athens in a Round of 16 match against Alejandro Tabilo on Tuesday, November 4.

The Hellenic Championship replaced the Belgrade Open on the calendar this season and is making its debut. It's the last ATP 250 event in 2025 and will feature two top-10-ranked players, Novak Djokovic and Lorenzo Musetti.

Djokovic and Musetti received a bye in the first round and will begin in the Round of 16 on Day 2. Meanwhile, Marcos Giron and Mackenzie McDonlad are facing a tough challenge in their respective Round of 32 matches. Here are our predictions for all the matches scheduled on November 4.

#1. Marcos Giron vs Pedro Martinez

Marcos Giron is set to face Pedro Martinez in his opening match at the Hellenic Championship. He last featured in the Paris Masters last month, where he lost against Daniel Altmaier in the first round. Giron, the World No. 72, also suffered early exits in Brussels, Shanghai, and Tokyo last month.

The American last registered a singles win at the Chengdu Open, where he lost to Brandon Nakashima in the quarterfinals. However, his next opponent, Pedro Martinez, is also on a poor run, having last won a singles match at Winston-Salem in August.

Prediction: Marcos Giron to win in three sets.

#2. Mackenzie McDonald vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry

Mackenzie McDonald defeated Marco Trungelliti and Shintaro Mochizuki in the qualifiers to set up a Round of 32 match against Tomas Martin Etcheverry. The American needed three sets to overcome his qualifier opponents and is unlikely to beat the Argentine in the first round on Tuesday.

McDonald has had a 10-16 win-loss record this season and is ranked 110th in the ATP singles. On the other hand, Etcheverry is the World No. 60 and has had a 24-29 win-loss record this season. He recently reached the quarterfinals in Hangzhou, but retired due to injury after winning the first set against Corentin Moutet.

Prediction: Tomas Martin Etcheverry to win in straight sets.
