A current WWE star has set the record straight on her wrestling career. CJ Perry, also known as Lana, has announced her retirement from in-ring competition.

The 40-year-old personality spent the majority of her time in the Stamford-based promotion as Rusev's manager. Although the former Ravishing Russian did lace up her boots occasionally, wrestling wasn't her strong suit.

Lane last wrestled during the May 31, 2021, edition of Monday Night RAW, teaming with Naomi to face Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose in a losing effort. The following month, she was let go by WWE, bringing an end to her eight-year journey.

She has since worked briefly in AEW, but has not returned to the squared circle. And, now we know why.

Speaking to Daria Berenato (fka Sonya Deville) on her Unwrapped podcast, CJ Perry reflected on her time with the Stamford-based promotion, while also announcing that she apparently called it quits on her career in 2021.

“I got signed in 2013, and then I apparently retired in 2021. Apparently retired. No, [On if her contract expired] I actually had three more years on my contract. Yeah, I got released. I was on a 5-year contract. I covered two, which was such a great blessing because I was on a higher-paying tier, which was so awesome. Yeah. But it got cut short.”

Will Lana return to WWE anytime soon?

CJ Perry is currently signed under the WWE Legends contract, but has yet to make an on-screen appearance for the company.

Her in-ring career may be over now, but she could still return to manage her husband, Rusev. The Bulgarian Brute has been a lone wolf (no pun intended) on Monday Night RAW.

Rusev and Lana have had an amazing on-screen chemistry, and there's no secret that their alliance has done wonders for their respective careers.

However, the chances of it happening are slim to none at the time of writing. After going through a rough patch in their relationship, Rusev and Lana are planning to start a family.

In fact, CJ Perry is undergoing IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) to conceive a child.
