The Philadelphia Eagles made an impactful move on Friday afternoon to bolster their receiving core ahead of the 2026-27 NFL season.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the franchise traded two draft picks to the Green Bay Packers for a wide receivers who has recorded 1,328 yards in his career thus far
“ESPN sources: the Green Bay Packers are trading wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick,” Schefter reported on X/Twitter. “Wicks will sign a one-year, $12.5 million extension with the Eagles, per his agent.”
The acquisition of Wicks likely won’t move the needle for an Eagles fan base that expects high-level production on the outside. Wicks finished his rookie season with 581 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 15 contests, but he hasn’t been great since.
This past season, the Auburn product accumulated 332 yards and two touchdowns in 14 contests, making it easy for the Packers to move on from him after less than five seasons.
Still, from the Eagles’ vantage point, adding a 6-foot-1 speedster, who has experienced his fair share of highs in the big leagues, proves to be a beneficial move for the two-time Super Champions.
At the end of the day, time will tell if the deal was worth completing.
