Steelers rejected Cowboys' disrespectful trade offer for Patrick Queen, per report

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen has been far from a revelation for the franchise upon joining in 2024.

The LSU product has built a negative reputation for whiffing on routine tackles and for being below average in coverage in Pittsburgh. As a result, Queen has been surrounded by trade rumors since the start of the offseason.

The catch is, the Steelers won’t accept any offer for the 25-year-old, making it pivotal for interested franchises to put their best foot forward. According to a recent report, the Dallas Cowboys failed in that regard, leaving Pittsburgh no choice but to reject its disrespectful trade offer for Queen.

“Publicly, the Steelers have pushed back on the idea that Queen is on the trade block,” Steeler Nation’s Anthony G. Halkias II stated Thursday. “However, this time of year often brings mixed signals.”

“The NFL is ultimately a business, and teams frequently weigh the benefits of moving veteran players with sizable contracts, especially when cap flexibility is at stake.”

“Sources have now told Steeler Nation that Jerry Jones and the Cowboys reached out to Pittsburgh to inquire about a potential deal for Queen. However, their offer reportedly fell short of expectations, consisting of just a third-round pick.”

As flawed as Queen is at this stage of his career, he’s worth more than one third-round pick. The Ventress, a Louisiana native, can be highly effective as a run stopper and pass rusher thanks to his impressive side-to-side speed, tracking ability, and high motor.

However, the Cowboys clearly disagree with that assessment, leading them to lowball the Steelers for Queen. Perhaps another organization will provide Pittsburgh with an enticing enough trade package to make a deal come to fruition.
