You will be hard-pressed to find a more maligned player in the NFL than Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Having been up and down throughout his career, Tua was benched for the final few weeks of the 2025 season, with Miami wanting to see what it had in Quinn Ewers.
That's a sure sign that Tagovailoa's future in Miami is anything but certain.
And for new Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, his comments on the quarterback position hint at a lot of uncertainty at the position.
"There's too many conversations to be had at this point," Sullivan said via NFL.com. "We have to figure that out. We will, but today's not the day I can give you that answer."
One thing is for sure: Tua isn't a lock to be starting in 2026.
With Ewers playing the final few games, that hinted that Tua was in a precarious position, and now his new general manager just about confirmed it.

Is Tua done in Miami?
There is a sense that he could be. But he signed a four-year, $212 million contract in 2024.
He can't be cut, per Over The Cap. Cut before June 1, Miami will eat $99 million in dead money, which drops to $61 million after June 1.
And a trade doesn't look much better.
A pre-June 1 trade sees Miami eat $45 million in dead money, but a post-June 1 trade sees the Dolphins eat $13 million in dead money and save $42 million.
But which team would take on Tua's contract? Not many.
So, this will be an interesting story to follow in the coming months, because Tua's future in Miami is anything but certain.
