Orioles predicted to finish offseason overhaul by signing $199 million two-time All-Star ace, would create powerful 1-2 punch with Trevor Rogers

The Baltimore Orioles have had an explosive offseason, and did a complete overhaul of their roster. They’ve gone from out of the playoffs to contenders, but they still have one move they could make that could turn this offseason from explosive to legendary.

According to Fansided’s Robert Murray, the Orioles’ move could be to sign two-time All-Star and 2022 World Series champ Framber Valdez. Murray linked them to Valdez on MLB Network, and thinks it just makes sense.

“On MLB Network, I was asked who I thought the best fit for free-agent left-hander Framber Valdez is and listed the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles still have a need for another starting pitcher. The team's front office, led by Mike Elias, was with Valdez in Houston and knows the player. It’s unclear how much, if at all, the incident of crossing up his catcher Cesar Salazar in September has had on his market. But if the Orioles, who have been hyper active this winter, add Valdez … their chances of a deep postseason run will become even more realistic,” Murray wrote.

Valdez was half-hot and half-cold in 2025. In the first half, he posted a record of 11-4, a 2.62 ERA, and 141 Ks. At the trade deadline, however, he fell apart, ending the season with a record of 13-11, an ERA of 3.66, 187 Ks, and a WHIP of 1.245 over 192 innings pitched.

A change in scenery might be what’s needed for Valdez, though. Especially playing in a place like Camden Yards, which has become a pitcher’s park since the changes to the outfield in 2022.

This would be the O’s final big move, and it would be a good one, giving Trevor Rogers a No. 2 in the rotation he can rely on. Hopefully, they see that and get to work.
