Chelsea fans are furious with manager Enzo Maresca after Tosin Adarabioyo was named in the starting XI for their Carabao Cup clash against Wolverhampton on Wednesday, October 29. Many are questioning the decision after the defender's poor cameo in the 2-1 loss to Sunderland last weekend.

Filip Jorgensen replaced Robert Sanchez in goal, with Tosin Adarabioyo, Malo Gusto, and Jorrel Hato coming in the defense.

Josh Acheampong is the only player to keep his place in the starting XI from the team that played in the last league game.

Andrey Santos and Romeo Lavia are the midfielders today, with Facundo Buonanotte playing in the attacking midfield role. Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens are the wingers, with Tyrique George leading the attack.

Fans are happy with the team, but Tosin starting the match has seen the confidence crash. Many posted:

@ChelseaFC Tosin as Captain? Yeah we’re losing.

Tosin starting. Tele off.

Why is Tosin starting are that woeful cameo?

Making Tosin the captain as well, what’s the point genuinely

Tosin is making his 50th appearance for Chelsea today and will be captaining the side for the first time. He joined Fulham in the summer of 2024 after running down his contract at Fulham.

Tosin Adarabioyo blasted after Chelsea loss to Sunderland

Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi-Mikel slammed Tosin Adarabioyo after the 2-1 loss to Sunderland in the Premier League. He claimed that the defender was poor after coming off the bench for Josh Acheampong, and failed to stop Brian Brobbey from assisting the winner in injury time.

Mikel said on his The Obi One Podcast:

"It’s a massive three points dropped. The centre-backs that we have right now, we can’t win the Premier League with those centre-backs. Tosin, what are you doing?! Five or six seconds, he controlled the ball, the striker, and you’re standing behind him. Yes, Tosin, yes. [Trevoh] Chalobah as well, yes. Was Chalobah looking at the man who was arriving late to the box, was he trying to calculate where the man is coming? "But I just think one of them should have done something, one of them should have been proactive in terms of the defending. They should have gone to the man rather than just wait. When you do that, you just give your opponent the time and space. He had the time and space and all he had to do was square it to the man who was coming. Brilliant finish but disappointing the way we conceded the goal."

Chelsea slipped to 9th in the Premier League table following last week's loss. They defeated Lincoln City in the third round of the Carabao Cup in September.
