Chiefs vs. Bills to be decided by 1 crucial factor

The Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills will meet in Week 9 in what is shaping up as a conference and playoff-defining contest.

The Chiefs will travel to Highmark Stadium, looking to continue their recent hot form, while the Bills will want to see some consistency in their game, especially on offense.

The Bills have had bragging rights in the regular season, winning the last four, while the Chiefs have won the last four postseason games, so history suggests Buffalo will win.

And for head coach Andy Reid, the game will be decided by one factor.

“Turnovers are terrible,” Reid said. “When you're talking about winning and losing football games, it's hard to overcome those. Every week I give the guys the stats of the other team, and win, loss, and whether they've won the turnover battle or lost the turnover battle.

"If you lose a turnover battle the majority of the time, you're losing the football game, and that's just how it goes. You got to take care of the football.”

Chiefs must win turnover battle vs. Bills

This game will pit two teams against each other that pride themselves on not giving the ball away on offense and taking it away on defense.

The Chiefs, through eight games, have only four turnovers, with two of them coming against the Washington Commanders, while Josh Allen and Co. have only six through their seven games.

Conversely, the Chiefs' defense has nine takeaways this season, all coming in their last six games, and Sean McDermott's defense has eight takeaways, with at least one coming in all but one game this season.

Neither team can afford to gift extra possessions to the other, meaning whoever wins the turnover battle here will have a good chance of claiming the win.

Can the Chiefs continue on their merry way?
