Welcome to the latest edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's WWE News & Rumor Roundup for December 28, 2025. In this edition, we'll cover a 53-year-old star's heartbreaking retirement, a legendary name revealing that they will never wrestle again, and Paige's latest announcement.

There is another huge update on Seth Rollins' WrestleMania 42 status and rumors of The Street Profits leaving the Stamford-based promotion. So, let's get started.

#5. Wrestling journalist debunked rumors of The Street Profits leaving WWE

The Street Profits are a fan favorite stable in World Wrestling Entertainment. Despite getting over with the audience with their in-ring skills, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins' booking hasn't been the best in recent times. Due to Ford and Dawkins not getting enough TV time since October 2025, rumors started circulating on social media that the company might get rid of them soon.

However, according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, these rumors are not true. The wrestling journalist confirmed that there were no indications of The Street Profits possibly leaving the TKO-led promotion after their contracts expire.

#4. Seth Rollins might not return for WrestleMania 42

At Crown Jewel 2025, Seth Rollins suffered a brutal shoulder injury, seemingly when he hit Cody Rhodes with the Coast to Coast. On RAW after Crown Jewel, The Visionary confirmed his injury and was later written off TV after an attack by Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. Since then, he has been absent from in-ring competition.

Amid his absence from television, Rollins recently revealed that he might be out of action for three to four months. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON) recently revealed that WWE was keeping its hopes up for Seth returning and joining the card for next year's 'Mania. However, the creative team was not fully sure of The Visionary's inclusion in The Show of Shows.

“[Seth] Rollins this week estimated being out three to four more months. WrestleMania is three-and-a-half months away. The last time I asked about 'Mania and Rollins it was that the option was still open but it was far from a sure thing,” Meltzer said.

#3. Former WWE star Paige (aka Saraya) dropped a massive announcement

Since leaving AEW, Saraya has been heavily rumored to return to WWE. Amid these rumors, the former Paige recently dropped a major announcement during the latest edition of her Rulebreakers show.

The former WWE Divas Champion revealed that she would be coming out with a new season of Rulebreakers, which she believed would be more "fun."

"We are going to have a second season of Rule Breakers. We’re going to do it without people holding us back. There’s a mystery to it, but you’ll see next season, baby. We’re going to have some fun. We’re going to let loose, and we’re going to have the shackles off," she said.

#2. A legendary WWE name will not wrestle again

During his recent appearance on the panel at FanX Salt Lake City 2025, WWE legend Mick Foley revealed that he was thinking about returning to the squared circle for a final time for his 60th birthday.

He also highlighted that he would have messed up his knee and hip replacement if he had stepped inside the ring again.

"I was thinking of doing a last match for my 60th birthday, which has come and gone, and so I didn’t do it. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor, and I really thought if I do some of the things I want to do in this match, I will completely mess up my hip and knee replacement."

Foley then confirmed that he will never step inside the squared circle again, as he didn't want to go through the pain he felt while walking before he got his knee and hip replacement.

"I remember how painful it was to walk for like 10 years before I got that. I don’t want to go back there — not for any match or any amount of money."

#1. Former WWE star has announced their in-ring retirement due to health reasons

During his recent appearance at an ALW show in Cocoa, Florida, former WWE (then WWF) star Tony DeVito revealed that he was ending his in-ring career.

The 53-year-old former ROH Tag Team Champion shared the tragic story of getting diagnosed with a stroke in his eye. He also revealed that doctors told him he wouldn't be able to compete inside the ring anymore.

"I woke up that morning, and I could not see out of my left eye. Now I was born, and I can’t see out of my right eye already. I was born that way. That day, I went to a doctor. I got diagnosed with a stroke in my eye. So basically, that means I had a blood clot, the blood leaked out. I have blood behind my retina. Doctors told me that wrestling is done," he said.

The star added that he was not done with wrestling as he will return, possibly in a backstage role.
