According to ex-WWE lead writer Vince Russo, Drew McIntyre and a 32-year-old SmackDown star have been given s**t to work with. He said this in the context of praising both men.

On the final episode of BroDown, host Mac Davis asked wrestling veteran creative writer Vince Russo about who he thinks is the WWE star of the year. Russo said that he can't give an answer to that because he doesn't believe anybody is truly "over" with the crowd, which is wrestling lingo for one being popular among the live WWE audience.

According to Vince Russo, the question is more about who has done the most with what they were given. He said that the 32-year-old Solo Sikoa and the Scottish Warrior, Drew McIntyre, fit that category. Russo went and put WWE on full blast for how they've handled Solo Sikoa and Drew McIntyre:

"Who has done the most with what they've been given? That's what we have to look at. I've said this before - I think Solo Sikoa has improved leaps and bounds. Yes, they give him absolute s**t, and that's why he is where he is. When you've got five Samoans in War Paint bailing from a guy and a girl [Nikki Cross of Wyatt Sicks], you're not getting them over. Period, end of story. I think with what he's been given, and Drew [McIntyre]. Just give Drew a big box of s**t and tell him to go do something with it. Drew is unbelievable. I'm sure he's getting paid a lot of money. I don't get how he's had the patience to keep shut this long."

What's next for Drew McIntyre after his loss to Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night's Main Event?

It should be said that Vince Russo's rant about Drew McIntyre was before Saturday Night's Main Event. With the stipulation announced on SmackDown that a countout or disqualification would lead to a title change, many WWE fans were left frustrated when Cody Rhodes retained the title over McIntyre.

This effectively put an end to their feud and any hopes of Drew McIntyre becoming a World Champion. McIntyre moved to SmackDown soon after RAW premiered on Netflix, and this was largely viewed as a positive move because the main event scene on RAW was going to be crowded.

While the prediction of the RAW main event scene being crowded turned out to be true, what left many disappointed was the lack of success Drew McIntyre has had on SmackDown. McIntyre has been featured as a prominent player, but not enough to reach the heights he did five years ago during WWE's pandemic era.

As of now, it seems like there are two options for McIntyre - first, to resume his feud with Jacob Fatu, who was taken out by a mystery attacker, and second, to enter the "Last Time Is Now" tournament to attempt to become John Cena's final opponent at Saturday Night's Main Event next month.

It doesn't seem like there are that many options, and hopefully, for fans of McIntyre, things will turn around for the Scotsman in 2026.
