Malik Beasley wasn't signed to a new team during free agency. Most of it had something to do with him being involved in an investigation in June regarding gambling and placing prop bets on NBA games. Fortunately for the player, he was cleared of the investigation.

However, Beasley still faced various issues beyond the investigation. According to several reports, he is still under investigation by a separate federal agency. Also, the former Detroit Pistons guard faced financial issues, including an eviction.

On Snapchat, he teased fans that he could return to Detroit soon.

“I’m going to the D this week I wonder why,” Beasley posted.

After fans saw this, most of them got excited to see him back on the floor with the Pistons. Last season, he appeared in all 82 games, averaging 16.3 points and 2.6 rebounds on 41.6% shooting from deep. With his strong performance last season, he finished second in the Sixth Man of the Year voting behind Boston Celtics' Payton Pritchard.

The Pistons weren't able to sign Beasley last summer and did a sign-and-trade to acquire Duncan Robinson. But with the free agent teasing about a potential return, Detroit could be adding him to the roster soon.

Here are some of what the fans said about Malik Beasley's potential return.

"My demon coming back," a fan said. "Imagine running a break with Duncan & Beasley running to the corners, Ausar sprinting ahead, Duren trailing & Cade handling the ball omg 🤯🤯🤯🤯" another fan commented. "Getting Ivey back + signing Malik would immediately fix our 3PT problem and lack of playmakers when Cade is sitting," one fan said.

Other fans had jokes about Beasley.

"Get caught up on that rent?" someone commented. "Probably back in the D to drop a rent check off with his landlord," a comment read. "To pay rent," one fan commented.

Players the Pistons can waive to make room for Malik Beasley

The Pistons have a full roster this season. This is why there are questions as to how the team will sign Malik Beasley. Detroit has a logjam in the shooting guard position, and two players could be released to make room for Beasley.

The first player is Javonte Green. In the five games he's played this year, he's averaging 5.3 points in 42.9% shooting from deep. While he's efficient, Green isn't producing a lot on the floor.

The next player is Caris LeVert. The shooting guard has been underwhelming as the 2025-26 season started. He's averaging 5.7 points, far from the 12.1 points he averaged last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks.

The Pistons could waive both to welcome back Malik Beasley. The benefit of doing it is that Beasley already knows how to play with the team and doesn't need much time to adjust.
