The Houston Texans, after their playoff loss to the New England Patriots, saw a lot of criticism come the way of quarterback C.J. Stroud.
The four first-half interceptions were horrible, leading some to wonder if the Texans should extend Stroud when the time comes.
Still, with two years (if they want it) to evaluate C.J., the Texans will have him at least for 2026, and they have to give him all the tools needed to win. And that means putting the right pieces around him, because the defense is set; it's just the offense that needs work.
And for ESPN's DJ Bien-Aime, getting C.J. another top weapon has to happen this offseason.
"Making sure quarterback C.J. Stroud has the appropriate amount of wide receiver help going into Year 4," Bien-Aime wrote. "Other than Nico Collins, opposing defenses do not fear Houston's other playmakers; Christian Kirk, Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel combined for only 1,024 receiving yards this season."

Texans' WRs need help
Looking back on 2025, it was clear that the Texans' passing game was Nico Collins or bust.
Collins produced 1,117 yards and 6 TDs from 71 receptions. The next best receiver was Jayden Huggins with 525 yards and 6 TDs from 41 receptions.
So, Collins needs help.
Could Houston look to someone like Alec Pierce? Or even pick up the phone to the Dallas Cowboys for George Pickens? Both would be expensive, but would give Stroud a top option alongside Collins.
If the Texans want Stroud to succeed, they have to give him more help, and it starts with adding another top receiver.
