Broncos move on from quarterback, 9 other players who now become free agents

1 hour ago 3

The Denver Broncos saw their wonderful 2025 season come to an end after losing to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.

The offseason will feature free agency and the NFL draft, where the Broncos will look to add to a roster that keeps them at the top of the heap in the AFC. But first, some smaller decisions need to be made, starting with the players who finished the season on the practice squad. With these players, teams decide whether to sign them to reserve/future deals to make them part of the 90-man offseason roster or allow them to become free agents.

The Broncos signed a total of eight players to future deals but on Monday, the deadline passed for the remainder of the players who were on the practice squad to be offered contracts and those players will now enter the free-agent pool.

The Broncos chose not to offer new deals to the following players.

Elijah Moore among 10 Broncos players who will enter free agency

Elijah Moore, WR

When the Bills released Elijah Moore during the season, the Broncos decided to give him a shot and signed him to the practice squad. He wasn't elevated to the 53-man roster until the postseason in which the Broncos were experiencing injuries at the position.

He caught one pass for four yards in the loss to the Patriots, his only catch in a Broncos uniform.

Michael Bandy, WR

It's a bit of a surprise to see the Broncos give up on Michael Bandy, as he has spent the past two seasons with the team on the practice squad and has had multiple game-day elevations. He caught four passes for 50 yards and one touchdown this season.

Kyrese Rowan, WR

Undrafted out of Utah State, Kyrese Rowan spent the entire season on the practice squad but apparently didn't do enough to stick around.

Brandon Johnson, WR

Brandon Johnson's second stint in Denver was short-lived. He was signed ahead of the AFC Championship Game following injuries to Troy Franklin and Pat Bryant, but he was nothing more than an emergency option.

Ben DiNucci, QB

Similar to Johnson, the Broncos added Ben DiNucci as the team's third QB following the season-ending loss to Buffalo in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Marcedes Lewis, TE

When the Broncos elevated 41-year-old Marcedes Lewis from the practice squad for a game this season, he became the oldest tight end to ever play in an NFL game. The 20-year veteran will likely retire.

Patrick Murtagh, TE

A player who came to the league via the International Player Pathway, Patrick Murtagh spent the entire season on Denver's practice squad, but that was all the team needed to see. He will be looking for his fourth team in four seasons in 2026.

Geron Christian, OL

The Broncos signed the former-third round pick, Geron Christian, back in November, in order to add depth to the offensive line. He didn't play in any games for the team, which was his eighth different NFL team.

Tanner McCalister, S

The Broncos waived Tanner McCalister this past June but brought him back in January to the practice squad. He will be looking for a new team again. He also spent time with the Jets and Chiefs this season.

Delarrin Turner-Yell, S

A fifth-round pick in 2022, it seems as though Delarrin Turner-Yell's time with the team has come to an end. He was able to return to the field after nearly two full years in a game this season, but unfortunately suffered a knee injury in that game. He finished the season on the practice squad injured list.

Turner-Yell's career has been held back due to injuries to this point and he may find it tough to get back on the field at this stage in his career.
