Garraway gave birth to her son on January 17, 2024. However, her pain didn't subside, which led to her visiting the medical practitioners. She was then diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal Adenocarcinoma.

The dancer's friend, Amy Egbert, started a GoFundMe fundraiser to help her with the medical costs related to her treatment. In her fundraiser, Amy stated:

"While she is as mentally strong as she can be, this journey hasn't been easy, and it isn't over. Bills are piling up, and Janina isn't able to work at this time due to her aggressive chemotherapy, radiation treatment, and surgery plan, so we are turning to our community."

At the time of writing, the fundraiser had received a donation of $23,578, with the target set at $30,000.
