The New Orleans Saints stand as one of the most likely teams to sell off pieces at the trade deadline.
Granted, the Saints have been against a full tear down in recent years, but at 1-7 and in desperate need of more draft capital to push the franchise into the future, New Orleans should be unloading some talent.
Knowing that, USA TODAY's Jacob Camenker predicts New Orleans will make two trades with the Denver Broncos and one with the Pittsburgh Steelers at the deadline.
The trades with the Broncos involve the Saints sending both tight end Taysom Hill and wide receiver Rashid Shaheed to Denver.
"The Broncos should be interested in adding Shaheed to their offense," Camenker wrote. "The team's receiver room has gotten a boost from the emergence of Troy Franklin, but Marvin Mims Jr. hasn't been as consistent as he was in 2024. That could prompt Denver to add more deep speed to its big-bodied receiving room, and Shaheed would compliment Courtland Sutton and Franklin well with his field-stretching abilities."
"Hill is 35 years old and coming off an ACL tear. He's not as explosive as he was pre-injury – he has just 20 yards on 14 touches this season – but his unique skill set as a passer, runner and receiver would give Payton a fun weapon with which to work in an already solid Broncos offense," Camenker said of a Hill trade with the Broncos.
As for the Saints-Steelers deal, Camenker sees New Orleans sending linebacker DeMario Davis to Pittsburgh.
"It's no secret the Steelers need help fortifying their defense," Camenker writes. "Pittsburgh already traded for Kyle Dugger to bolster its weakness at safety, but adding another linebacker with Patrick Queen and Payton Wilson playing inconsistently would be sensible."
The Broncos have been mentioned in rumors as having interest in adding a tight end but will probably be looking for a more traditional type that can block and make an impact the passing game.
That said, head coach Sean Payton had an affinity for using Hill during his days with the Saints, so we can't totally rule out a trade for the versatile weapon.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported the Broncos are looking for a "field-stretching" wide receiver, so Shaheed makes sense given his deep-ball prowess.
It has been widely reported that the Steelers are in the market for a wide receiver with their lackluster situation behind DK Metcalf, so Shaheed also makes sense.
It's true the Steelers haven't gotten what they hoped out of Patrick Queen and Payton Wilson this season, but Pittsburgh has much bigger fish to fry on the defensive side of the ball, so we would say a trade for Davis is unlikely.
