Making its debut as an NCAA championship sport, athletes will compete for the first-ever women's wrestling title this weekend.

Added just last year, women's wrestling became the NCAA's 91st official sport in 2025. That means whoever claims freestyle titles in each weight group will make history as the first collegiate women ever to do so.

Iowa, McKendree and North Central University have each qualified 10 athletes in the championships, and are the clear frontrunners. The three schools have combined to win every National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championship since its inception in 2020.

Returning champions Kennedy Blades (160) and Kylie Welker (180) are ones to watch in Coralville, Iowa, this week.
