Blues' Jordan Binnington update on trade deadline day reveals final chances of move

The St. Louis Blues still haven't traded one of their big-name trade rumored pieces yet.

The deadline is Friday at 3 p.m. ET (2 p.m. CT), so if any of Jordan Binnington, Jordan Kyrou, Robert Thomas, Justin Faulk or Colton Parayko is going to be traded, it's going to be soon.

As far as Binnington is concerned, it still sounds like there's a real possibility.

NHL Network's Brian Lawton reported late Thursday night that there's a "60/40 chance it gets done" on Friday, referring to a Binnington trade.

On paper, it makes some sense. The Blues have been terrible this season, and it's time to look toward the future.

There aren't a ton of teams seeking to trade for a goalie, which makes this market tougher, but it seems like Binnington would probably have a couple of takers. It's just not clear what they'd be willing to send in return.

It'd still be a tough deal for the Blues to make.

After one early NHL appearance in the 2015-16 season, Binnington arrived in earnest for 2018-19, and all he did that year was get red hot and backstop the Blues to the Stanley Cup championship.

He has played 369 games in his Blues career entering deadline day. He has 181 wins.

Binnington also has a 90.3 save percentage and a 2.85 goals against average while suiting up for the Blues.

He's also been Team Canada's goalie in recent years, and teams view him as a reliable goaltender in big games.

That will make him appealing to contenders if a deal really can come together on Friday.

If Binnington is sent out of St. Louis, it'll truly be the end of an era.
