The New York Knicks aren't sure whether Mitchell Robinson will be able to play in the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs.
He's officially listed as questionable for Game 1, the only player on the injury report at all, after getting injured in a bit of a mysterious way.
Robinson didn't appear to get hurt at any point during the four-game Eastern Conference Finals sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers, but he now is listed as having a fractured fifth metacarpal on his right hand.
That's essentially a broken hand, the bone that runs up toward the pinky but is actually on the outside of the hand itself.
How did Mitchell Robinson get injured?
No one has said exactly how Robinson got hurt, but there are deductions that can be made.
ESPN's Brian Windhorst had this to say on Get Up on Wednesday morning:
"It wasn't his pinky. It was his fifth metacarpal. It's a broken hand. When you break this part of your hand, it's known as a boxer's fracture because most of the time it means you hit something."
Windhorst also helpfully points out exactly what part of the hand he's referring to:

A "boxer's fracture" doesn't sound ideal. It's not clear what Robinson may have hit, but that's probably not the move to be making in any form on the eve of the NBA Finals.
To slow down Victor Wembanyama, the Knicks will likely need the defensively strong Robinson to be on the floor. Whether his broken hand will allow for that or not is still unclear.
