Gable Steveson recently secured a statement victory at Dirty Boxing 4, and Jon Jones was ecstatic to see his friend get his hand raised. The Olympic gold medal wrestler is widely considered among the most exciting prospects in MMA and regularly trains with Jones.

Steveson went up against Billy Swanson at Dirty Boxing 4 in Nashville and secured a blitzkrieg 13-second knockout victory. Immediately after finishing Swanson, Stevenson jumped over the ropes and ran to embrace Jones, who was watching the fight from the front row. The UFC legend later joined Steveson in the ring as the Olympian waited for his post-fight interview.

During the post-fight interview (via @ChampRDS on X), Steveson pointed out that UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard was in attendance and urged him to give him a chance to prove himself in the octagon. He said:

"I think a special guest was here to watch me, but I’m just not sure where he is. His name is Mick Maynard, and he’s right there. Mick, you’ve seen a little bit. I would love to show a lot more. Hopefully, you believe in me, and I appreciate you."

When Gable Steveson credited Jon Jones for inspiring him to make MMA transition

Last year, Gable Steveson reflected on his journey as an athlete and outlined how Jon Jones played a massive role in inspiring him to transition to MMA.

After a short stint in the WWE and playing in an NFL pre-season for the Buffalo Bills, Steveson became one of Jones' main training partners before the MMA legend's fight against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 last November. In an interview with MMA Fighting, the Olympic gold medal wrestler reflected on his journey and said:

"As I put the gloves on, I really like the feeling of going out there and mixing everything together from wrestling to boxing to kickboxing to jiu-jitsu and putting all the pieces together in one."

He continued:

"That definitely put a huge spark in me to do MMA, too. Wherever the path leads me to after this wrestling season is going to be great, regardless, but the MMA thing, when I tell you it definitely lit a fire under me. Being in that camp definitely put a big, big gaslight and lit it really hard and burned the fumes in me." [H/t: MMA Fighting]
