Warriors predicted to cut ties with Stephen Curry's $100 million four-time NBA champion teammate

All good things in the NBA must come to an end eventually.

Regarding the Golden State Warriors, Blue Man Hoop’s Tyler Watts believes it’s time for the Warriors to cut ties with Stephen Curry’s four-time NBA champion teammate in the offseason.

“It is time for the Warriors to move on from Draymond Green,” Watts wrote Wednesday. “In his last six games, Golden State has lost Green’s 160 minutes by 90 points.”

“They have just one win during that stretch, and it came against the (Memphis) Grizzlies without Ja Morant. Golden State won the two contests Green missed since Jan. 28, including blowing out Memphis.”

“Fans worry they won’t be able to replace Draymond’s defense, but the Warriors have a 113.4 defensive rating with him on the floor this season. That would rank 13th in the NBA for the full season and is worse than Golden State’s current 112.9 rating. Draymond Green was a centerpiece of the Golden State Warriors dynasty, but it is time to move on.”

Some may argue that Green has earned the right to finish his career with the Warriors. The Michigan State product is a franchise legend and will be remembered as a versatile 6-foot-6 forward who helped the Dubs win four championships.

However, the NBA is a ‘what have you done for me lately’ league, and with Green trending in the wrong direction as a playmaker and defender, it would be a wise idea to consider letting the 36-year-old walk in free agency or re-signing him before featuring him in a deal for a superstar (he’s averaging 8.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game this season).

After all, the ultimate goal is to surround Curry with a championship-contending roster to help him win another title before he exits the NBA. Saying goodbye to Green appears to be the first step toward turning that dream into a reality.
