Trade prediction should lead to Lakers landing $134M two-time NBA Champion

I don't know how the Los Angeles Lakers would do it, but there is certainly a sense that they need more. Right now, the Lakers are a decent team and will probably win many regular-season games because of how good Luka Doncic is.

There's absolutely no debate that Doncic is one of the best basketball players in the world, as one could even argue that he is the best. However, when it comes to the playoffs, and teams really battle it out defensively, I have my fair share of questions about whether Los Angeles can really do much on that side of the basketball.

Outside of Doncic scoring at an elite level, I'm not sure what this team looks like defensively, and that's a problem.

However, that's why I think Los Angeles should look to make a trade. It was recently predicted that Jrue Holiday of the Portland Trail Blazers would be moved, and I truly believe he'd be a perfect option in Los Angeles.

“As Portland continues its relentless pivot toward a full-scale youth movement, shopping the 36-year-old Jrue Holiday is a logical next step. Holiday remains the ultimate floor general commodity for any win-now contender, bringing elite point-of-attack perimeter defense, steady leadership, and championship-level basketball IQ.

“Following Portland's shocking blockbuster acquisition of Ja Morant, the backcourt rotation has suddenly become extremely crowded. With two years and $72 million left on his deal, moving that money won't be easy, but the Blazers are fully intent on testing the market,” Joe Cervenka wrote.

Now, while I believe Holiday would be a perfect option for the Lakers, I also recognize that Los Angeles isn't really in a position to go out and land him.

In order for this move to happen, Los Angeles would have to get very creative to make the money work. I'm uncertain if Rob Pelinka is willing to do that, but I'd love to see him try. Holiday is as good as it gets defensively and would be a perfect piece for what the Lakers are looking to do.
