India Women stunned Australia Women by five wickets in the second semifinal of the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, October 30. With the win, India ended Australia's exceptional 15-match winning streak in the Women's World Cup.

India lost yet another toss after which Australian captain Alyssa Healy decided to bat under somewhat overcast conditions. The Aussies ended up posting a massive total of 338 on the board as Phoebe Litchfield hammered 119 off 93, while veteran Ellyse Perry contributed 77 off 88 and Ashleigh Gardner 63 off 45.

In the chase, India got off to a poor start as Shafali Verma perished for 10 and Smriti Mandhana for 24. However, Jemimah Rodrigues (127* off 134) and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (89 off 88) added 167 for the third wicket as the Women in Blue ended up achieving a record chase of 339.

#5 Sourav Ganguly (111*)

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly scored an unbeaten 111 off 114 balls against Kenya in the second semifinal of the 2003 World Cup in Durban. The Men in Blue batted first after winning the toss and posted 270-4 in 50 overs. India won the match by 91 runs as Kenya were bowled out for 179 in 46.2 overs.

Batting at No. 3, Ganguly top-scored with 111, hitting five fours and as many sixes. The southpaw added 103 runs for the second wicket with Sachin Tendulkar (83 off 101). Ganguly, who captained India in the 2003 World Cup, was dismissed for 24 off 25 in the final against Australia.


#4 Virat Kohli (117)

Team India's batting run-machine, Virat Kohli scored a sublime 117 off 113 balls against New Zealand in the first semifinal of the 2023 World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. With a ton in this knockout match, Kohli also became the first player to notch up 50 ODI hundreds, breaking Sachin Tendulkar's record in the presence of the Master Blaster.

Batting first after winning the toss, the Men in Blue posted a mammoth 397-4 on the board in their 50 overs. Kohli's 117 featured nine fours and two sixes. His brilliant knock ended when he was caught at deep square leg off Tim Southee's bowling. Kohli was out for 54 against Australia in the World Cup final played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.


#3 Jemimah Rodrigues (127*)

Jemimah's memorable knock of 127* features third on the list of highest individual scores by Indian batters in ODI World Cup knockouts matches. The right-handed batter occupied the crease for 193 minutes as she soaked in the pressure of a tense semifinal clash. The right-hander struck 14 fours in her innings. Incredibly, this was Jemimah's first Women's World Cup knockout match.

Set to chase a record target of 339, India lost their openers early. After featuring in a huge stand with skipper Harmanpreet, Jemimah battled on till the end and took India to glory, featuring in crucial partnerships with Deepti Sharma (24), Richa Ghosh (26) and Amanjot Kaur (15*).


#2 Rohit Sharma (137)

Former India captain Rohit Sharma hit an impressive hundred against Bangladesh in Melbourne in the second quarterfinal of the 2015 World Cup. The Hitman struck 137 off 126 balls as the Men in Blue hammered Bangladesh by 109 runs. Batting first, India posted 302-6 and then held the opponents to 193.

Opening the innings, Rohit batted for 223 minutes, hitting 14 fours and three sixes. He added 75 for the first wicket with Shikhar Dhawan (30 off 50) and 122 for the fourth wicket with Suresh Raina (65 off 57). Rohit's knock ended when he was knocked over by Taskin Ahmed with a full, inswinging delivery.


#1 Harmanpreet Kaur (171*)

Harmanpreet played a great supporting role in India's win over Australia in Navi Mumbai on Thursday. She was the standout performer when India last beat Australia in a Women's World Cup match. In the second semifinal of the 2017 edition in Derby, Harmanpreet clobbered 171* off 115 to stun the Aussies.

India Women batted first after winning the toss and Harmanpreet's sensational knock saw the Women in Blue posting 281-4 in 42 overs. The amazing knock featured 20 fours and as many as seven sixes. Such was Harmanpreet's dominance, the next best score in India's innings was 36 by skipper Mithali Raj. Thanks to Harmanpreet, India went on to beat Australia by 36 runs.
