Timberwolves’ Rudy Gobert suddenly viewed as trade option for LeBron James reason

1 hour ago 4

It would be absolutely insane for the Minnesota Timberwolves to continue moving on from certain players, though if we've seen anything out of Minnesota over the past few seasons, it's that it isn't too worried about making big deals at the blink of an eye.

In fact, the Timberwolves are perfectly fine with taking chances by making moves here and there. Rudy Gobert, per the latest prediction, was the latest one who could get moved.

“Rudy Gobert’s immediate future in the Twin Cities is tied directly to the high-stakes LeBron James sweepstakes. If the longshot Timberwolves somehow land 'Bron, Minnesota will likely keep their veteran defensive core intact for one massive, championship-or-bust run next season.

“But if that pitch falls through, expect the front office to aggressively build around their younger timeline. Gobert is 34 years old with a ton of heavy mileage on those long legs, making him a prime candidate to be shipped out. Having already executed two massive blockbusters this summer, this restless Timberwolves front office has proven it isn't afraid to shake up the roster to try and finally get out of the West,” Joe Cervenka wrote.

I understand the idea that Gobert isn't the best player in the world, and I wouldn't disagree with that.

However, I truly believe that he's a lot better than he gets credit for. Offensively, Gobert is not going to give teams much.

There's absolutely no debate about that, and nobody would disagree. However, he's as good as it gets defensively, and Minnesota has found that out over the past few seasons. Unless the Timberwolves can get a very nice return for him, I don't see where it would make sense to make this trade.
