Tiger Woods’ TGL season 2’s 20 match schedule out explored ft. playoff dates

After a successful opening in 2025, TGL is set to return for season 2 this weekend. The tournament featuring virtual reality holes is set to be played at the SoFi Center from Sunday, December 28. The opening night will see defending champions Atlanta Drive GC take on the New York Golf Club.

Season 2 of the simulated indoor golf, co-founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, will feature six teams playing 15 matches in a bid to enter the playoffs. Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Billy Horschel, and Lucas Glover’s Atlanta Drive, who won the inaugural TGL title in March after beating New York GC, will start off their title defense campaign with a rematch. NY’s Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Cameron Young will be eyeing for payback on the opening night.

Rory McIlroy will make his season debut with Boston Common Golf on January 2 as the new TGL season introduces more Sunday and Friday matches this year alongside the regular Monday and Tuesday outings. The Northern Irishman’s side will take on Tommy Fleetwood's Los Angeles Golf Club. Ludvig Aberg, Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee, and Shane Lowry’s The Bay Golf Club will follow suit the following weekend with a match-up against Atlanta Drive.

Interestingly, Woods had earlier revealed that he would attend every match of his Jupiter Links GC side. His team, consisting of Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Tom Kim, will tee off on January 13 against New York. It is pertinent to note that the 15-time major champion, who is still in recovery after yet another back surgery in October, never clarified if he’d playing the events or backing his team from the sidelines.

The only two double-header match days is put towards the end of February, on the 23rd and 24th. Meanwhile, the first semi-final is set to be played on Tuesday, March 17, while the third final match is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 24.

It is also noteworthy that the new TGL season features some big changes in technology including transitioning to the Unity 6 game engine, to deliver sharper visuals, with improved lighting and realistic environmental effects. Deeper GreenZone, enlarged ScreenZone and customized ‘team hole’ for each of the six teams are some other notable improvements for 2026.

TGL recently announced the introduction of an expansion team - Motor City GC. However, the latest side will not join the hi-tech league until 2027.
