It has been a stellar ride for Carson Beck and the Miami Hurricanes ever since the 2025 season began. Even though he struggled running routes and maintaining accuracy, the end result was always in the Hurricanes' favor.
With only a single loss to Louisville in Week 7, Miami is coursing towards a dominating season and earning a playoff spot. Meanwhile, their ACC rivals Georgia Tech are on the top of the leaderboard, unbeaten, making them a true contender for the playoff berth from the ACC.
According to college football insider Joel Klatt, Brent Key and the team are yet to face their real challenge. And that will happen in the final game of the season.

Georgia Tech will face the Georgia Bulldogs in the final weekend. Klat predicts Georgia Tech to lose the game and wrap up the season 11-1. With Miami winning all the remaining matchups, they too wind up with an 11-1 record.
This makes two ACC teams tie atop the leaderboard with a 10+ win record. And when that happens, it would be Miami that thrives, claimed Klatt.
“Georgia Tech is undefeated right now, and their toughest remaining game, not in the ACC, when they take on Georgia later this year,” Klatt mentioned on his podcast on Tuesday.

So in this model, Georgia Tech would face Miami, both of them being 11-1. I think Miami is the better team.
"So I’ve got Miami winning the ACC Championship. They would be a 12-1 champion, and Georgia Tech would be an 11-2 non-champion,” he added to his projections.
Mario Cristobal shares optimism over Carson Beck's progress
After making his Miami transition, Beck happened to be going through a rough patch, especially with Georgia fans calling him out for such an unprecedented move.
On the gridiron, Beck struggled to display his accuracy and rushing skills. However, things turned out to be better when Miami played Stanford last week. Head coach Mario Cristobal couldn't be any prouder.
"Consistency, accuracy, decision-making, and the ability to improve it even more….We were all on the same page, the execution was at a much better level, and there's an appetite to continue to get better and improve,” Cristobal said to the reporters earlier this week. The Hurricanes will face SMU this weekend followed by Syracuse, NC State, Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh in the following weeks. Miami should nevertheless turn out to be a championship-contending team this season from the ACC.
