Based on Freida McFadden's 2022 novel of the same name, The Housemaid is a psychological thriller film scheduled to be released on December 19, 2025, by Lionsgate. Directed by Paul Feig, the film features Sydney Sweeney in the lead role of Millie Calloway.
The story revolves around Millie, a young woman with a troubled past, who is hired as a live-in housemaid for the seemingly perfect, wealthy Winchester couple. Though she quickly learns that the family's perfect façade hides sinister secrets, turning her new beginning into a power struggle based on lies.
The Housemaid also features Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, Elizabeth Perkins, and other actors in supporting roles.

Who is the author behind the source material of The Housemaid?

She is a prolific, multi-#1 New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author who is also a practicing physician specializing in brain injury.
Her writing career began when she self-published her first novel, the medical humor book The Devil Wears Scrubs, in 2013 on Amazon KDP. She gruadually progressed in her career until she gained popularity with her 2022 novel, which has been adapted into a film.
