Roman Reigns recently turned down a major opportunity due to WWE commitments. The OTC1 has made a couple of huge returns this year after being on hiatus since WrestleMania 41.

Reigns remains one of the biggest stars of the promotion, but before becoming the Tribal Chief in WWE, he was making his name on the football field with Georgia Tech.

He represented the Yellow Jackets as a defensive tackle between 2004 and 2007. He even captained the team during his senior year. Recently, Georgia Tech Athletic Director Ryan Alpert talked about Reigns' involvement in his alma mater.

During an interview with 680 The Fan, Alpert said the program even offered him the chance to serve as honorary captain for their upcoming game against Georgia, but his WWE obligations got in the way.

Roman (Reigns) has been incredible. Roman has been engaged and what he did on The Pat McAfee (Show) a few weeks ago, talking about the program. I think we actually reached out to him, but he’s unavailable to be the captain for the Georgia game,” he said.

The game that Georgia Tech wanted Reigns to captain falls on November 28, which is a day before Survivor Series in San Diego. Hence, it would have been very difficult for the Head of the Table to commit to the proposal.

Roman Reigns promoted Georgia Tech recently

During a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Roman Reigns hyped up the Georgia Tech program.

He expressed his gratitude to the school and vouched for it as the "place to be" for future players and students. In response, Georgia Tech posted a message highlighting these words from their former player.

On 680 The Fan, Ryan Alpert said that it is incredible to have someone like Roman Reigns promote their program.
